Annabel Parker of Rockport, known to local audiences for her musical performances in Rockland’s “Midcoast Maine Has Talent — Or Not” and other talent contests, recently participated in “Community Auditions,” New England's oldest talent show. The format is similar to “American Idol.”
The show will air Saturday, July 26, at midnight; and Sunday, July 27, at 10:30 a.m. on WPFO-TV/FOX 23, which is Channel 7 on Time Warner Cable, Dish Channel 23 and DirecTV Channel 23
Parker, who took advantage of a last-minute opportunity to compete, appears in the first segment of the show’s 45th season. Parker, who is 12, sang, played the piano and tried to smile while the judges scored her. As on “American Idol,” the judges say whatever they want to.
Although she did not advance to the next round, viewers can vote for Parker on Facebook, Twitter or communityauditions.com; if she gets enough votes, she can be brought back for the finals. The website also has short profiles of all the contestants.
