The Camden Adult Coed Softball League season is in full swing with teams playing games most week nights, if the weather cooperates.

As of July 17, the two-time defending champion Free Press Redwings sat atop the regular-season standings at 6-0. The remainder of the teams had suffered a few setbacks on the young season.

A couple of squads from last year dropped out of the league but the popular summer league gained two new teams to maintain the status quo.

League games are played weeknights at 6 p.m. at the Camden Snow Bowl, Lincolnville Central School and Jaycee Park on Old County Road in Rockland.

The league standings as of July 17 were: Free Press Redwings, 6-0, 1.000 winning percentage; Knox County Benchwarmers, 4-3, .571; Feeners' Pride, 4-3, .571; Willey Wharf, 4-4, .500; Blue Sky Cantina, 3-4, .429; French & Brawn, 3-5, .375; New England Concrete, 2-4, .333; and Schooners, 1-4, .200.

The competitive league is open to a wide range of age groups, with some in the league playing into their 60s.

One of the feel-good stories in the league, among the many that usually pop up, this year comes from Feeners' Pride, as its players wear pink t-shirts in support one of its players, Bobbi Jo Denman, who has battled breast cancer.

Denman, seemingly always upbeat and with a huge smile on her face, has played in games with the team this summer.
