This week we are asking:

"Do you support a moratorium on buildings over 50 feet tall in Rockland's South End?"

The City Council Monday night, July 14, gave initial approval to such a moratorium to provide time to look at the city's ordinances in terms of building heights. The action comes after some residents opposed a five-story building project in that area. Some are concerned the moratorium will have a chilling effect on encouraging economic growth in Rockland, while others argue there are no projects planned that will be impacted and there will be no adverse impact on business. The approved five-story hotel in the South End will not be impacted by the moratorium.

What do you think of this plan?

See our attached chart for results from last week's On The Line poll, in which most respondents said they did not approve of the job the Rockland City Council is doing.

As a change, we have started providing results from recent polls along with the latest online poll in the upper left corner of the homepage at Just click On The Line to take the poll and see results. Results are also published each week in The Courier-Gazette. Email any questions or suggestions to
