Once again the Hope Fire Department will be hosting one of their famous chicken barbecues. This will be held at the HopeCorner Fire Station on Saturday July 26 starting at 5 p.m. $10.00 per dinner. They have 200 dinners.

The menu will be homemade potato salad, coleslaw, pickles, roll, beverage and homemade dessert. You can eat it at the fire station or take it home.

Around Hope

As I do not seem to have much news this week I will try and fill in with a few things around town.

Last weekend when a person was mowing their lawn, what should jump up but a fawn with all of its spots. What a sight that was!

Also last Friday night there were some fireworks over toward Union. Someone opened their door so to step out and a small dog ran into their house. It had a phone number on the collar so the owners could come and pick it up.

Of course the other thing going on is the hot humid weather (everyone is running their air conditioners) and the rain. When it rains, it really rains. The last rainy day we got more than 4 inches.

If you don't have anything to do, ride around Hope. You will see a new house being built off of Route 105 and the sun porch being built at the Davis Apple Orchard (if you read last weeks paper, you will see a picture of it plus it tells all about it). If you ride over Barnestown Road you will see that the haying has begun on the Pearse farm, on the Wright place plus the Reuben Barrett place. You will also see more than 400 marshmallows (big rolls of hay) beside the road. Last Saturday 1,200 square bales of hay was put into a barn and Sunday they had 400 more square bales.
