Walt Simmons will present a program on traditional wherries Wednesday, July 23, at 7 p.m. at the Lincolnville Community Library.
Simmons will speak about the history of the Lincolnville wherry, including the one on display in the Jackie Watts Open-air Museum on the site of the Lincolnville Community Library. He will also tell about how the boats were built and used.
Simmons has been a boatbuilder in Lincolnville for 40 years and is the author of several books on boats and boatbuilding, including Wherries.
