Chris Augusta is Waldoboro Public Library’s July Artist-of-the-Month. Augusta grew up in New England and spent many of his formative years along the coast. He studied drawing and painting from his father, George Augusta, a prominent portrait and landscape painter.
Augusta said he learned the importance of working directly from nature and that drawing and painting are a means to understanding how nature works and how human beings see the world. Although formally trained in portrait painting, he has always enjoyed the art of caricature as a way of depicting human character. He has had caricatures published in several publications including The Boston Book Review and National Review magazine.
