June was complete with a backyard camp-out. Eight boys attended for a casual family fun camp-out complete with smores at the campfire and scary stories. They boys also went down to the beach for some exploring and in the woods for some hiking.

The troop marched in the July 4th parade in Thomaston. The boys had so much fun throwing candy to the on-lookers that they ran out half way through the parade. Before the parade started we met a former Pack 206 Scout, who was dressed up as Sharp Shooter from the Civil War (or was it the Revolutionary War?). He gave the kids a brief background of the Sharp Shooter regiment and how 100 men were sent from Maine, but only 99 showed up. One never made it. He then shared some memories of creating cookbooks and other fun scouting activities he did while in the very same Pack 206 many years ago. The kids were so thrilled.

The next big event will be an overnight campout at Camp Bomazeen in Belgrade July 26-27 and marching in the Lobster Festival parade Aug. 3. The troop is also planning to launch rockets and having a field day in the near future.

Boys in grades 1 through 5, ages 6-11, in the Rockland Area that want to join in the fun, please contact the Cub Master Rachel Williams at 542-1419 or Rachel.cubscouts@gmail.com or visit beascout.org.
