A motorcycle crash in Waldoboro July 8 required the driver to be taken to the hospital by a LifeFlight helicopter.

At about 7:20 p.m., Reginald Gay Sr., 66, of Windsor was operating a 2010 Harley Davidson Road King and was approaching the intersection of Route 235 and Manktown Road at approximately 7:20 p.m., according to Waldoboro Police Chief William Labombarde.

Gay lost control of the motorcycle, skidded through the intersection and the motorcycle  landed on its side. There were no other vehicles involved. Labombarde does not believe speed was a factor in the crash.

The crash is under investigation and Maine State Police responded to reconstruct the crash.

Gay was transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston by LifeFlight. He remained in the Intensive Care Unit with unknown injuries July 9.

LifeFlight landed in the parking lot at Medomak Valley High School to pick up Gay.

Waldoboro Police, Fire and EMS along with Warren Fire Department all responded to the scene to assist in the crash.
