On Friday, July 4, during the 5 to 8 p.m. First Friday Art Walk, a new photography exhibit will be shown in the main exhibit room of the Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, 9 Water St.
“Out There: A Photographic Tour of the Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge” is a collection of 100 photos highlighting the beauty and ruggedness of the islands themselves, the variety of wild inhabitants and the living arrangements and work of the refuge’s staff and seasonal researchers. The photos were selected from the thousands taken by refuge staff, island researchers and refuge volunteers over many years.
The Visitor Center, just a couple of blocks from downtown, also is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
