An open house Saturday, July 12, at the Cushing Public Library will honor former Cushing resident and the artist Bernard “Blackie” Langlais. Five of his artworks — three handsome wood reliefs and two paintings — were donated to the library by Colby College and the Kohler Foundation and are permanently on display.
The open house visitors will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the library, located at 39 Cross Road within the Cushing Community Center. Light refreshments will be served.
The library is participating in the Langlais Art Trail organized by Colby College, to be launched online in mid-July, at langlaisarttrail.org. The trail will mark locations across Maine where Langlais’ artworks are on view.
