Gauthier awarded Maine Innkeepers Association scholarship
FREEPORT — Shyann Gauthier of Appleton was awarded a scholarship by The Maine Innkeepers Education Foundation, affiliated with the Maine Innkeepers Association at the tenth annual Tees & Textbooks event held June 9 and 10 at the Samoset Resort in Rockport.
Gauthier received the Marcel LaCasse Award of $500, which was sponsored by Joe Van Why of the Doubletree by Hilton in South Portland. Christopher Jones, chief operating officer for Hospitality Association Management Services, presented the scholarship award to Gauthier.
Gauthier is currently attending the Southern New Hampshire University, in Manchester N.H.
Gauthier’s dream is to open a farm-to-table restaurant and she is attending SNHU to get the culinary education necessary to be successful in her endeavors. Hospitality runs in the family as her mother is employed at the Samoset Resort.
The Maine Innkeeper’s Education Foundation scholarship program began 10 years ago to inspire and offer partial support to students pursuing careers in hospitality. Over $180,000 has been awarded to 273 Maine students since 2004. This year 12 Maine students received sponsored scholarships totaling $12,000.
French named to Endicott dean's list
BEVERLY, MASS. — Marina Elizabeth French, the daughter of James and Elizabeth French of Camden, has been named to the spring 2014 dean's list at Endicott College. French is a junior majoring in business administration.
In order to qualify for the dean’s list, a student must obtain a minimum grade point average of 3.5, receive no grade below a “C”, have no withdrawal grades, and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits for the semester.

PORTLAND — The following full-time Midcoast students have been named to the University of Southern Maine dean’s list for the Spring 2014 semester.
In order to be named to the list, students must earn a grade point average of 3.4 or higher and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Frye named to Western New England University dean's list
SPRINGFIELD, MASS. — Rachel E. Frye of Cushing, has been named to the dean's list at Western New England for the spring semester of 2014. Frye is majoring in international studies-economics/commerce concentration. Students are named to the dean's list for achieving a semester grade point average of 3.30 or higher.
