An exhibition of more than 30 paintings inspired by Port Clyde and Monhegan Island will open with a 5 to 7 p.m. reception Friday, July 27, at Ocean House Hotel and Gallery, 870 Port Clyde Road/Route 131 in the village.
The show is curated by Angela Anderson and features original acrylics, watercolors and oils by Krisanne Baker, Hannah B. Beutell, DiTa, Sheri Dec, Kathleen Fox, Alicia Hammatt, Roslyn Morrill, Thomas Peabody, Pat Ryan, Paula Spector, Caleb Stone and Anderson.
The Ocean House has long been a stopover point for travelers headed out to Monhegan, catching the ferry from Port Clyde or returning to the mainland, and the idea for this show is based on this clientele and lore. The images in these works are unexpected, yet familiar with a wide variety of styles represented by 12 artists.
Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week. The exhibition will be ongoing throughout the summer.
