The Velvet Lounge series of Rock City Café, 316 Main St., will present up-and-coming singer/songwriters the last weekend of the month, performing Friday and Saturday, June 27 and 28, from 7 to 9 p.m.

On Friday, Rock City will present 23-year-old Midcoast local Georgina Butler, who has been writing and performing music for 19 years. A classically trained pianist since childhood, Butler takes cues from her early musical background while blending influences ranging from the blues, folk, rockabilly, rock 'n' roll of the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s to music of today and punk rock of various styles and eras. She has played with the bands Rosamonde, Smokin' Dead Souls, drive by todd and recently at FOG's Open Mic Monday Nights with co-host Teddy Casey. Her unmistakable voice and words offer a counterpoint to often romantic original music.

On Saturday, the Velvet Lounge welcomes 19-year-old Danielle Pease, who was born and raised in Winthrop. Despite her youth, she has experienced a great deal within the music industry. In 2011, she made it to Hollywood on the national reality television show "American Idol"; she has played at venues such as Gillette Stadium, The Hard Rock Cafe in Boston, Webster Hall in New York City and many more; and she has performed for ESPN, The Jonas Brothers and multiple radio and news stations.

After taking a couple of years off to develop more skills, Pease is back and ready to share her gift once again. Rock City’s lunch service is now extended till closing on music nights.
