Fish chowder supper

THOMASTON — The Midcoast Shrine Club annual fish chowder supper is Saturday, June 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thomaston American Legion. Cost is $8.

Head-to-the-Beach Book Sale

THOMASTON — Through the month of June, all paperbacks in The Friends of the Thomaston Public Library's Hallway Bookshop are on sale two-for-the-price-of-one.

Small (mass-market) paperbacks are on sale 2 for 50 cents and larger (trade) paperbacks are 2 for $1. The sale is open to the public during all open library hours, including Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Thomaston Public Library is located in the Thomaston Academy building at 60 Main St. Parking and the library entrance are at the rear of the building. For more information, call 354-2453.

Conjuring Carroll coming to Waldoboro

WALDOBORO — Conjuring Carroll will be at the Waldoboro Public Library Monday, June 23, at 10:30 a.m.

In this program, visitors see many magic tricks that have a science and mathematical basis to them. As the current president for The Society of American Magicians, Carroll always likes to include the magic number (793.8) the Dewey decimal system location where all the magic books are found in the library. Also information about some of the assets to a local library and the magic card called a library card are discussed in this program.

Celebrate the spirit of summer

ROCKPORT — Amy Jenner will lead a lecture Wednesday, June 25, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Avena Botanicals in Rockport. The lecture is part of Avena's Living Earth, Living Soul Series. Suggested donation: $10.

With the integration of shamanic, energetic techniques, acupuncture and Chinese herbs, Jenner has a unique and powerful way of addressing health needs. Through gentle needle and non-needle techniques, these ancient systems of medicine are used to allow healing arising out of the deepest intelligence of the body, mind and spirit. She began her training in Five Element Chinese Medicine with the study of Plant Spirit Medicine under Eliot Cowan, shaman of the Huichol Tradition, receiving certification in 2002.

She went on to spend five years in intensive study of Five Element Acupuncture and Rooting Shen with Master Acupuncturist and Teacher Niki Bilton. Jenner received her undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts and her Masters of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine from the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture in Florida, where she now serves on the faculty, teaching Five Element Theory and Practitioner Development there and also in Midcoast Maine. She has maintained a healing practice since 2002, moving to Midcoast Maine in 2006. She lives in Rockport with her partner and an ever-expanding garden. Her twin sons are in their senior year at two different New England universities.
