The Rockland After-School Alliance after-school program, Arts in Action, led by local artists Alexis Iammarino and Sarah Rogers is seeking community input and inspiration for a summer project as they begin to design a large-scale mural for the Rockland Rec Center’s gymnasium themed Life and History of Rockland.

RASA will offer a free summer youth art program for Regional School Unit 13 middle school students, but the group seeks to make community connections and offer volunteer opportunities for artists of all ages. The project is sponsored by RSU 13 Adult Education in partnership with the Rockland Parks and Recreation department. Youth younger than middle-school age are invited to participate with a parent or guardian.

Iammarino and Rogers can be seen around town with the interactive Mobile-Mural Brainstorm Board, a portable "warm-up" mural, traveling to various area events to gather input from community members on the mural design. They want to know what Rockland brags about and have folks share their Rockland pride, memories and vision.

The pair has hit the streets with the schedule including: Rockland Farmers Market, Rockland Rec Park area, First Friday Art Walk, Pop Up Show and Follow the Shirts, Rockland Library Lawn and Plant Sale, and Rock Coast Rollers Derby Bout – Paint the Floor. Input can also be given through an online survey at
