The Mildred Stevens Williams Memorial Library will hold a silent Chairitable Auction, featuring hand-painted chairs from the original library, and other donated wares, Thursday, June 26, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Like many small Maine towns, the Appleton library is primarily run by village volunteers and funded through community projects such as this event. The current library is only a few years old, powered by geothermal and solar energy.
The chairs have been painted by Carolyn Brown of Snow Hill Arts; artist and library curator Jackie Dunham; and artist Jessica Whitworth, all local residents donating their imaginative talents to the fundraiser.
The library is located in the village at 2916 Sennebec Road. For more information about the silent auction, contact Ellen Taylor at ellent@maine.edu.
