Aldermere Farm’s experiential program, Farm Hands, is a one-day-a-week program for youth ages 11 to 18 who volunteer at the farm helping with farm chores and halter training of calves, giving the farm a more manageable herd.

This fun hands-on six week summer experience is limited to eight participants who want to learn about being on a farm. Beginners attend on Tuesdays, and those students who have participated in the program before or who have large animal experience come on Thursdays from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. until mid-August.

Other experiences also part of the session includes care of the animals (this includes lambs this year!), showing and fitting demonstrations, and learning about the importance of farmland conservation. Students in this course should be prepared to work hard and get their hands dirty.

Program runs from July 8 to Aug. 14. Free. To register, call 236-2739 or email
