The Maine Winery Guild will be sponsoring Open Winery Day to celebrate Maine wineries. On Saturday June 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. participating Maine wineries will have special offers in their tasting rooms including complimentary tastings, tours and special events.

“Maine has developed a strong reputation in the craft beer industry. It also has some excellent producers of wine, mead, cider and spirits.” said Ben Alexander, owner of Maine Mead Works in Portland and President of the Maine Winery Guild. “Open Winery Day is an opportunity for us to raise awareness of another Maine artisanal craft that with a growing reputation every year.”

Founded in 2008, the Guild currently represents 24 wineries in Maine and sponsors the Maine Wine Trail which consists of 21 vineyards and wine makers producing a range of artisanal products including, grape wine, fruit wine, mead wine, ciders and distilled spirits. it includes local wineries in Rockland, Union, Warren, and Lincolnville.
