June 2, Appleton Historical Society's program topic is Invasive Plants of Midcoast Maine presented by Rebecca Jacobs, Education/Outreach Coordinator of the Knox-Lincoln Soil and Water Conservation District.

Ever wondered why folks are worried about invasive plants, how they got here in the first place and are they really harmful to the ecosystem? Learn about the plants "from away" that are disturbing natural ecosystems and replacing the native vegetation that defines our region and on which wildlife depends. Learn to recognize key invasives in our area and explore control and prevention strategies.

A business meeting will take place at 7 p.m. in the meeting room at Mildred Stevens Williams Library located at 2916 Sennebec Road in Appleton Village and will be followed by Jacobs' presentation at approximately 7:30 p.m., then refreshments.
