The weekly blues series continues June 2 with a 7 p.m. show by the Chris Duarte Group. Admission at the door will be $15.

Since emerging in the mid-1990s from blues guitar hotbed Austin, Texas, Chris Duarte has forged new pathways for the blues and scouted numerous fresh trails for creative musical expression. Lauded for the exquisite artistry and vivid tonality of his six-string work, he also has proven his considerable mettle as a songwriter, singer and bandleader. As much a fan as a musician, Duarte takes some cues from his heroes, peers and pals including Jimi Hendrix, fellow Austinite Eric Johnson and Elvis Costello.

Next up in the weekly series is a special two-band night June 9 starting 6:30 p.m. with Shawn Holt and the Teardrops plus the Popa Chubby Band. Tickets are $20 and on sale now, call 596-6055.
