Maine Media Gallery will host the final work of Maine Media Workshops + College 2014 Professional Certificate graduates Memorial Day through the end of the month, with an artists reception Thursday, May 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. The show will then move to PhoPa Gallery in Portland, where it will be on display June 4 through 7.

The Professional Certificate students will present the culmination of their 30-week study at Maine Media Workshops + College in the artistry of visual storytelling. A variety of work will be displayed through both photographic and video investigations, with a range in subject matter including an extended documentary project on the farm-to-table movement in Maine; an underwater essay of the flora and fauna of Penobscot Bay; and inventive color examinations of existential states and the human condition. Artists include Fiona Chong, Jennifer Cook, Corinna Halloran, Courtney Theberge, Sean Thomas and Zach Whalen.

The Maine Media Gallery is downtown at 18 Central St.  Hours are weekdays from 1 to 5 p.m.; and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.

The Professional Certificate program at Maine Media Workshops + College is an interdisciplinary and immersive 30-week program in the art and craft of visual storytelling. Students aspiring to careers as artists and working professionals in the world of media arts become fluent in multiple forms of visual and aural media in order to effectively tell a story — whether it is one of personal expression, documentary journalism, social advocacy or fictional narrative. The Professional Certificate program is designed to graduate visual storytellers with the skills, vision, experience and knowledge needed to build a career in the evolving field of media arts.
