Grange breakfast

WASHINGTON — The Evening Star Grange, 31 Old Union Road, will hold its annual breakfast Saturday, May 17, from 7 to 9:30 a.m.

Serving pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, breakfast casseroles muffins juice and coffee. Price is adults $7, children under 12, $3. Receive $1 off with a donations of a nonperishable item for the food bank.

Visit the farmers market and Gibbs Library garage and plant sale after breakfast.

Gibbs Library plant, garage, book sale

WASHINGTON — On Saturday, May 17 Gibbs Library, 40 Old Union Road, Washington will hold its annual giant garage sale event. The plants are harvested from local gardens. Folks wanting to find a great book or treasure will find them in the Washington Fire Station and Gibbs Library. There are always plenty of antiques, furniture, tools and household items. Open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. From 1 to 2 p.m. is the “bag” sale with additional deals.

This is the major fundraiser for the Library and has become the hub of a community event. Start the day with breakfast at the Evening Star Grange to get the nourishment for your treasure hunting. If you need a refresher during the sale the Ladies Auxiliary will baked goods for sale. After a day filled with meeting old and making new friends have a grilled to order steak dinner at the Mt. Olivet Masonic Hall.

Benefit bingo

WALDOBORO — There will be a benefit bingo event for Buck Bickford, a cancer patient from Waldoboro, on Saturday, May 18, at American Legion in Waldoboro. Doors open at 5 p.m. and games start at 6 p.m. Bickford has been battling cancer since age 7, he is now 26. Food will be available and lots of great prizes donated by local businesses.

LIA to meet

LINCOLNVILLE — The Lincolnville Improvement Association will have its first meeting of the year Thursday, May 15 at the association building on Beach Road. The LIA meets May through October on the third Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. A tour of the new library will take place at 4 p.m. prior to the meeting.
