Members of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church presented checks to 12 local organizations that all strive to help people in need of heating, food or health assistance.

The third annual Share the Love Auction held Feb. 8 raised $15,000.

All of the money raised is returned to the community to support people in immediate need of food, heat and health assistance. St. Peter's recognizes that local organizations need help to do their work and the area is blessed with a community of businesses and supporters who donated items and purchased ads to support the auction.

The organizations that have received funds from the auction include Rockland District Nursing Association, Salvation Army, Area Interfaith Organization Food Pantry, Loaves and Fishes (a weekend feeding program based at St. Peter’s), Thomaston Food Pantry, Camden Christian Food Pantry, Oceanside Backpack Program, Knox County Homeless Coalition, St. Peter’s Rector’s Discretionary Fund, Meals on Wheels, Ocean’s View Grange’s Fuel Assistance Fund, and Rockport General Assistance.

St. Peter’s is grateful to all Knox County area businesses and individuals for their support and to the auction enthusiasts who bid on items that evening. A total of $20,000 worth of items were auctioned off including Cape Air tickets to Boston, New Hampshire Motor Speedway tickets, Celtics Tickets, Museum Passes, a Lyn Snow original watercolor along with other local and out of state artists that donated their paintings and many other great items. Plans are underway for the fourth auction in 2015.
