Retired attorney Greg Dorr spent 35 days this winter exploring Peru's diverse climates and cultures.

Peru has the world's second highest mountains, second driest desert, and jungle rivers that flow across the continent to the Atlantic Ocean. The Inca Empire may have been the richest in the world in 1520 AD, but as a result of conquest is now the poorest country in South America. Bus travel and hiking in the Andes and a 300-mile jungle river trip in an 85-foot steel canoe are some of the adventures that will be described along with a smattering of historical, economic and anthropological perspectives.

Dorr's talk and slideshow will be at the Waldoboro Public Library Wednesday, May 14, at 6:30 p.m. This program is free and open to the public. For more information, please call the library at 832-4484, or visit
