The monthly Second & Fourth Thursday Films series at Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St., offers classic comedies in Madcap May. Screenings, hosted by local film buff Erica Pfander, are 6 p.m. in the Friends Community Room.

On May 8, the series will show “His Girl Friday” starring Cary Grant, Rosalind Russell, Ralph Bellamy and a slew of great character actors. In this 1940 comedy, newspaper editor Walter Burns uses every trick in the book to keep his ace reporter ex-wife from remarrying.

On May 22, the series will screen “My Man Godfrey” starring William Powell, Carole Lombard and Alice Brady. A scatterbrained socialite hires a vagrant as a family butler, but there is more to Godfrey than meets the eye.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, the series is free and open to the Public. Handicapped accommodations are available with 48-hours notice by calling 594-0310.
