Garden Institute President Jeanne Hollingsworth will present a program on growing and planting seedlings Wednesday, May 7, at 7 p.m. at the Lincolnville Community Library.

Hollingsworth will cover how and when to start which seeds and the best timing for transplanting. She will share tips on her favorite varieties of flowers and vegetables and show how useful the information in seed catalogs can be in planning a garden. And she will discuss what she calls the three sustainable practices of gardening: interplanting, succession planting and companion planting.

Hollingsworth has been gardening for more than 30 years in Lincolnville. As president of the Garden Institute in Camden, she works to support the nonprofit’s mission of teaching people how to grow their own food.

Participants are encouraged to bring any extra seeds they may have to contribute to the library’s new seed exchange.

The library is located at 208 Main St. in Lincolnville Center. For more information, call 763-4343 or email
