April 16 marked two years since Stone Coast CrossFit’s grand opening at 16 Park Center Drive in Rockport; or as its members like to call it, SCCF’s second birthday.

In just under two years Lily Hamill and Nick Brown, the husband and wife team of owners and head coaches of SCCF, have outgrown the 1600 square feet they equipped with pull up rigs, barbells, rowers, and bumper plates; the signature equipment of CrossFit.

CrossFit is a unique open source fitness structure that addresses both the cardiovascular and the strength needs of its members, all of which are considered athletes. Unlike conventional gyms, SCCF has one posted workout of the day that all of its members will participate in during a class lead by a coach. These workouts are designed to improve upon the athlete’s capacity for work, otherwise known as “fitness.”

When classes started to bring in as many as 20 members at a time several times a week, Hamill and Brown knew that a move wasn’t just a luxury, but a necessity.

Barely 18 months after turning the key on SCCF, ground was broken on the structure that would house Hamill and Brown’s business, Stone Coast Wellness, LLC.

April 12, just fourdays shy of opening their first CrossFit location, Hamill and Brown opened the doors of the new facility that will be the new home of SCCF.

More than 100 people turned out to tour and work out in the new facility, just across from Hoboken Gardens, that boasts 4,200 square feet of open space, 840 square feet of indoor turf, showers, coaching staff, and a mural that implores members to “Expect more of yourself.”

Stone Coast Wellness, LCC will also offer massage therapy, chiropractic care, yoga, and personal training. For more information contact Nick Brown or Lily Hamill at info@stonecoastcrossfit.com or 370-0544.
