For the fourth year in a row, Hatchet Cove Farm has received a grant from the Wholesome Wave Foundation to expand the accessibility to organic vegetables for low-income families.

Families that utilize SNAP benefits to purchase their Community Supported Agriculture share with Hatchet Cove will receive a 50 percent discount off the price of their share. When a family purchases a CSA share it means they become a member of the farm, and they receive weekly deliveries of seasonal, organic vegetables for 18 weeks (from mid-June to mid-October).

Members can pick up their shares in Rockland (at the UU church), in Rockport (at Pen Bay Hospital), or in Warren (at the farm on Finntown Road).

The regular cost of a small family share is $340, but in addition to the grant for SNAP recipients, there is also financial aid available to families who might need extra help in making a CSA share possible for them.

In addition to vegetables, members can choose to add on a cheese share with Appleton Creamery, a mushroom share with Oyster Creek Mushroom Co., an oil and vinegar share with FIORE, and more.
