A spring contra dance featuring Sassafras Stomp will take place Saturday, April 26, beginning 8 p.m. in the gym of the Thomaston Academy building, 60 Main St./Route 1.

Sassafras Stomp features three accomplished Maine musicians: Putnam Smith on banjo; Johanna Davis on fiddle; and her partner, Adam Nordell, on guitar. Smith is a homesteader, while Davis and Nordell operate an organic farm.

Calling the dance is Kim Roberts, who has years of contra dance experience. Singles, beginners and children are welcome, and young children are admitted free; admission for others is $10. All dances are taught.
