Local gardener and beekeeper Amy Campbell will lead a presentation on native bumblebees at Merryspring Nature Center Tuesday, April 22, at noon.

First to emerge in spring, bumblebees are an active and important group of native bees. Campbell will discuss the incredible biology of these buzzing bumblers, including just how they fly, their social lives, and their role in the ecosystem. She will also address the threats bumblebees face from pesticides and other stressors. A colorful and exciting slideshow will show off many of the species native gardens, fields, and backyards of Midcoast Maine.

This talk is part of the Spring Talk series at Merryspring, sponsored by The First. Admission to Tuesday Talks is free for Merryspring members, with a $5 fee for non-members.
