Imagine September in New England. The sun dappled sky, the smell of leaves and wood smoke, temperatures still mild but laced with that distinctive chill that annually signifies the changing season. You’re zipping along a scenic back road, deliberately taking the long route and looking for another detour to buy some time behind the wheel of your 1951 MG TD before the real onset of autumn. After all, you just acquired the MG at the end of August and you’re still in disbelief: you won a classic British sports car in a raffle at the Owls Head Transportation Museum.

With just 500 tickets sold you knew the odds weren’t impossible, still you never thought that your name would be chosen when the winner was drawn with much fanfare at the Barnstormers Ball in late August. Win or lose, the $100 spent on the ticket was easily justified as a donation in support of your favorite museum.

With its reputation for sporty performance and beautiful lines the MG TD has remained a desirable, fun and collectible vehicle for more than six decades. The Owls Head Transportation Museum offers one lucky winner an opportunity to have this classic vehicle in their garage.

With media support from Down East Magazine, The Owls Head Transportation Museum announces the official launch of ticket sales for the 2014 1951 MG TD raffle. Tickets can be purchased by phone, on site at the museum and online at Terms and conditions apply and can be viewed in full on the Museum’s website.

The winner will be drawn Aug. 23 at the Barnstormers Ball, OHTM’s inaugural gala fundraising event. The winner need not be present to claim their prize. Barnstormers Ball tickets are also available in limited quantities and can be purchased online at
