United States Department of Labor and OSHA recognizes Yachting Solutions as the newest Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program or SHARP site.

SHARP recognizes employers who operate an exemplary safety and health management system meeting or exceeding OSHA workplace safety standards. Acceptance into SHARP is an achievement of status and singles out companies among its business peers as a model for workplace safety and health, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Labor.

As a designated SHARP company, Yachting Solutions’ worksite in Rockland will be exempt from OSHA programmed inspections for the next  two years. Yachting Solutions' Rockport facility received the SHARP award in September 2009 and has maintained their status as a SHARP site ever since.

Yachting Solutions opened their newest branch at 56 New County Road in Rockland in 2013; expanding their workspace from 10,000 to 60,000 square feet.

Yachting Solutions is one of only 66 locations in Maine to receive this award. In addition, there are less than 2,000 SHARP sites nationally. To qualify for the SHARP Program, you must: Request consultation visits that involve a complete safety and health hazard identification survey; Involve employees in the consultation process; Correct all hazards identified by the consultants; Implement and maintain a safety and health management system; And have injury and illness rates that are below the national average for your industry classification.

“This award is the result of the company’s established philosophy of caring about our employees, dedicating funds for the required safety equipment, and involving employees in setting the safety standards, and it’s about their efforts in cooperating everyday in the workplace to maintain a safe working environment," said Edwin Morong, Yachting Solutions’ Safety and Environmental Compliance Officer, in a news release.

"It is our wish that every employee return home to their loved ones at the end of the day, safe and well. A great deal of credit goes to the State of Maine Department of Labor’s SafetyWorks Division who administer the SHARP program. Their assistance and training programs are essential. I highly recommend contacting SafetyWorks to any Maine company seeking to achieve the SHARP designation, or for any company initiating a first time in-house safety program SafetyWorks’ staff are truly great partners to work with. They will guide you into compliance rather than penalize you if you haven’t yet achieved it.”
