In 2014, the American Lung Association of the Northeast will host the 30th annual Trek Across Maine, the organization’s largest fundraiser nationwide.

On Wednesday, April 16 at Maine Sport Outfitters, located at 115 Commercial Street in Rockport, the Lung Association will host an informal bike ride at 5:30 p.m. followed by a Trek Information Session beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and the bike ride is suitable for cyclists of all abilities.

Trek information sessions are a great way to learn all about the Lung Association’s three-day Trek Across Maine. Cyclists are given the opportunity to ask any questions they might have about the event and to meet other local cyclists who are training for the event.

Gale Auclair from the American Lung Association will be on hand to offer an overview of the Trek Across Maine. She will cover: how to prepare and train for the Trek; fundraising strategies; what to expect over the course of the three-day event; and what to wear. She will also discuss the myriad of volunteer opportunities that exist for those who cannot ride but would still like to be part of this amazing event that attracts more than 2,000 cyclists to Maine each year and is on target to raise $2 million to support healthy lungs and clean air.

The 30th anniversary Trek Across Maine runs from June 13 to June 15. Each participant is responsible for a $65 registration fee and a $500 fundraising minimum. Incentives are offered for any participant who raises more than $1,000. The Trek covers 180 miles over three days, providing breathtaking views, adventure and an unmatched sense of camaraderie.

Registration and more information on the 30th anniversary Trek Across Maine is available at TrekMaine30.org. Those with questions about the informal bike ride and information session being held at Maine Sport Outfitters may contact Gail Auclair at gauclair@LungNE.org.
