There will be a shape note singing Monday, April 14, from 7 to 9 p.m. at First Church, between Court and Church streets (entrance on Spring Street).

Also known as Sacred Harp singing, this energetic four-part unaccompanied community singing dates from Colonial New England and is now sung all over North America, as well as in Europe. The singing is open to all, at no cost, and newcomers are most welcome. Books are available for loan and purchase.

Those who wish to gather for supper before the monthly singing are invited to meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Belfast Co-op, 123 High St. For more information, call 338-1265 or 594-5743.
