Our pet pick of the week is Dakota, a 2-year-old Husky mix. She is a real beauty with a soft brown and white coat and one blue eye and one brown. She's sure to melt your heart. Of course, just as you shouldn't judge a book by its cover you shouldn't pick a pet just by their appearance. PMHSKC uses the Meet Your Match program to assist adopters in finding just the right dog for their lifestyle and personality. Dakota's personality is that of a "Busy Bee". She's naturally playful and curious. Give her daily exercise and she'll spend the evenings with you curled up on the couch. Dakota is fine with kids but is particular about the dogs that she will play with. To learn more about Meet Your Match visit hskcme.org.

Thank you to all who came out to our Tropical Getaway event. What a fun night! Steelin' Thunder, Midcoast's best steel drum band was awesome as usual. We are grateful for their support. Thank you also to our volunteer bakers who made an amazing spread of delicious goodies for all to enjoy. What a great way to escape the seemingly never ending winter.

We'd like to thank John and Sophie Vigue of Thomaston Grocery on Main Street in Thomaston for their wonderful gift of $563, proceeds from their Feed Them & Fund Them event, a month-long donation drive where they donated 50 percent of the purchase price of all dog and cat food sold during the month of February. We think that's fantastic!

From March 29 through April 5, Lobsterman's Restaurant on Main Street in Rockland will donate 15 percent of all food sales to PMHSKC. Please go and enjoy a delicious meal at Lobsterman's and know how grateful the animals at the shelter will be for you help while they are waiting for their forever homes.
