On Saturday, Sept. 7, Midcoast area animal lovers helped Wasses Hot Dogs of Thomaston raise $250 to benefit the Pope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County’s Spay/Neuter Fund.

Wasses invited people to, "Save a Cat, Eat a Dog," with a portion of the day’s proceeds donated to PMHSKC.

“We support the efforts of PMHSKC in making the Midcoast a better and more humane place for pets and people. It was only natural for us to help them raise funds to continue their programs,” Wasses owner Keith Wass said in a news release.

“This is a wonderful boost toward reducing the number of homeless cats and kittens by helping people get access to affordable spay/neuter services. We very much appreciate this support from this great local restaurant,” said PMHSKC Executive Director Tracy Sala.

The Pope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County provides animal support services to the towns of Rockland, Thomaston, Warren, Owls Head, St. George, Port Clyde, Martinsville, Tenants Harbor, S.
