Photographer Peter Ralston will open Rockport Public Library’s 2013 Seafaring Series, which is sponsored by the Friends of Rockport Public Library. All talks will be held Thursdays at the Rockport Opera House, 6 Central St., at 7 p.m. They are free and open to all, but donations are gratefully accepted.
Peter Ralston will open the series Oct. 10 with a discussion and presentation of his travels to Newfoundland. The series will run through Nov. 14.
Ralston's work has appeared in numerous books and magazines, featured on television and exhibited in galleries, collections and museums throughout the United Sates and abroad. While the Maine coast continues to inspire Ralston and his work, his passion and photographer's eye turned him towards Newfoundland, where he frequently travels and offers photography workshops. In this presentation, Ralston will share some fascinating stories and pictures featuring his time spent on the islands of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon and Grand Bruit.
For more information, contact the library at 236-3642. The next Seafaring program, on Oct. 17, is titled Shorthanded Super Heroes.
