Rockport Public Library is partnering with Maine Community Health Options to provide an informational community forum about the Affordable Care Act, the Health Insurance Marketplace, and the new co-op health insurance option for Maine people.
The marketplace is open for enrollment as of Oct. 1 for coverage beginning Jan. 1.
The community forum will be held Wednesday, Oct. 9 at Rockport Public Library at 6:30 p.m. The library is located at 1 Limerock St. in Rockport.
The Affordable Care Act is bringing major changes to the health care system in the coming months. By the end of the year, there will be new requirements for individuals, new options for affordable health coverage for many Mainers, and many new rights and protections.
The Health Insurance Marketplace will offer Maine consumers health insurance coverage with the possibility of advanced premium tax credits and cost sharing reductions to make coverage more affordable for thousands of Maine individuals and families.
Malory Shaughnessy, outreach and education specialist from Maine Community Health Options will provide an overview of what people will need to know to get ready for the health insurance market place.
