The city’s blues series at Time Out Pub, 275 Main St., continues Monday, Oct. 7. The Matthew Stubbs Band will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. in the upstairs music room. Admission is $10.
The ax-wielding Stubbs performs with the legendary Charlie Musselwhite Band, as well as his own Matthew Stubbs Band, often with Cambridge-based Gordon “Sax Gordon” Beadle as special guest. As a bandleader and composer, Stubbs has earned himself a reputation for penning soul-drenched roots and blues guitar instrumentals. In addition to playing with Musselwhite, Stubbs has toured and recorded with many top blues and soul acts such as Junior Watson, John Nemeth, Janiva Magness, Lynwood Slim, Brian Templeton and Sax Gordon. His latest CD is “Medford & Main.”
Looking ahead, the series will present Candye Kane on Oct. 14 ($15); JP Blues on Oct. 21 ($10); and a Halloween party with the Juke Joint Five on Oct. 28 ($10). For more information about blues in Rockland, visit northatlanticbluesfestival.com.
