PhoPa Gallery and Rockport’s Maine Media Workshops + College will present “focus on Faculty: Photographers from MMW+C” Wednesday, Oct. 2, through Nov. 16 at PhoPa, 132 Washington Ave. The opening reception will be held during Portland’s citywide First Friday Art Walk Oct. 5 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Featuring 23 of Maine's foremost photographers who have taught this year at Maine Media Workshops + College, the “Focus on Faculty” exhibition includes work from Charles Altschul, Tillman Crane, John Goodman, Elizabeth Greenberg, Brenton Hamilton, Chris Pinchbeck, Jan Rosenbaum, Craig Sevens, Joyce Tenneson, Brian Vanden Brink, Bridget Besaw, Charlotte Dixon, Jason Esposito, Cig Harvey, Patrisha McLean, Jim Nickelson, Neal Parent, Juan Pons, Matt Smolinsky, Alan Vlach, Kari Wehres, George DeWolfe and Deanna Whitman.

This exhibition marks the first time in nearly two decades that a group faculty exhibition has taken place in Portland. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to Maine Media’s scholarship fund. The exhibition is presented in celebration of Maine Media Workshop + College’s 40th anniversary. Formerly known as the Maine Photographic Workshops, MMW+C was founded by David Lyman and has attracted many of the most celebrated photographers of our time as educators including Arnold Newman, Mary Ellen Mark, Ernst Haas, Paul Caponigro and Bruce Davidson. Film production, book design, a masters degree program and a 30-week professional certificate program are among the offerings at MMW+C.
