Wild food expert Tom Seymour returns for a fall foraging workshop at Merryspring Nature Center Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Seymour’s workshop will start indoors with a slideshow introduction to wild edible plants, nuts, berries, and a brief discussion on wild mushrooms. Along with natural histories, share cooking tips and recipe ideas. Guests will then follow Seymour outdoors for a scavenger hunt on the Merryspring grounds to forage for fall edibles.

Seymour is a writer and naturalist based in Waldo. He is the author of multiple books, including "Wild Plants of Maine- A Useful Guide, Forager’s Notebook, Foraging New England," as well as many Falcon Guides on subjects as diverse as hiking, birding, and fishing in Maine. Copies of his books will be available for purchase after the program.

This is an outdoor lecture, so participants are reminded to wear sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothing for this event.

To best accommodate the group, this workshop has a limit of 20 people. The cost of this workshop, which is sponsored by Camden Real Estate, is $5 for Merryspring members, $10 for non-members. To sign up, please contact Merryspring at 236-2239 or info@merryspring.org.
