Community discuss future use of Lincolnville Center building

All are invited to a community meeting Saturday, Sept. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at the former Grampa Hall's in Lincolnville Center to share ideas about the future use of the building.

The owners, Jeremy and Marcie Howard, are interested in finding businesses, organizations or other enterprises that would like to rent this space at the corner of Heal Road and Main Street beginning in January.

The building currently houses the Lincolnville Community Library, which is expected to move this fall into the Lincolnville Historical Society’s renovated one-room schoolhouse on Main Street. The building has also been home on Saturday mornings to a farmers market where people come to buy fresh produce and enjoy coffee and conversation.

The Howards and members of the Lincolnville Community Alliance hope to have this continue to be a vital gathering spot for both local residents and visitors to the town’s center. Ideas that have been discussed include an artists cooperative, shared business space, a tinker and fix-it shop, and a food buying club. Whatever the building becomes will need to have a revenue stream to pay for rent and utilities.
