Local historian Renny Stackpole has released a book titled “Sea Letters,” which is available online through maineauthorspublishing.com or Amazon.com.
In “Sea Letters,” journals and letters from all over the watery world reveal the poignant lives and exciting adventures of Captain Andrew Pinkham of Nantucket and Ohio and his sons Alexander and Reuben, who earned distinction as members of the United States Navy in the period 1814 to 1842. The fact that the Pinkham family letters survived is a testament to those who worked so hard to preserve them. The writings are now a valuable part of New England history in the days of the early Republic.
Stackpole will be presenting an illustrated talk about his new book at historical gatherings in New England, Ohio and elsewhere.
