Members of the Kiwanis Club of Rockland were entertained with stories about the outdoors, brewing and other topics when John Christie and Josh Christie teamed up as the featured guest speakers at the Aug. 26 meeting.

The elder Christie is well known in the Maine ski community as the former owner of Saddleback Mountain and author of the “The Story of Sugarloaf,” a hardcover coffee table book that chronicles the history of the iconic skiing attraction. Christie the younger is also a writer and author of “Maine Beer: Brewing in Vacationland,” which takes the reader from the Maine temperance movement of the 19th and 20th centuries and the Pine Tree State’s emergence from Prohibition to the creation of a beer brewing culture that rivals any other in the United States.
