The dedication of a CedarWorks Mountain play set took place Sept. 10 at Broadreach Family & Community Services’ Mid-Coast Children’s Services location in Rockland.

CedarWorks owner Barrett Brown donated the structure to the non-profit organization that serves pre-school children with early childhood programs and services.

Also attending from CedarWorks were Teri Kenniston, customer service manager and Allison Heidorn, marketing coordinator. The ribbon was cut by Brown and Broadreach Executive Director Kate Quinn Finlay with Broadreach board member and longtime Mid-Coast Children’s Services board member Helen Kosmo and Director of Early Childhood Services Mary Bailey.

Quinn Finlay shared the appreciation felt at the Broadreach organization for the gift and what it will mean for the many young children who will have an opportunity to have access such a fine quality play set.

Noting the star shapes cut into the wood of the structure for children to peek out on various levels of the large playset, Quinn Finlay shared an excerpt from Max Ehrmann’s Desiderata, “You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.”

Children arrived for their first day of preschool Sept. 12. It is one of the largest outdoor models that CedarWorks makes and retails for more than $14,000.
