There will be a benefit supper for cancer patient Buck Bickford of Waldoboro Saturday, Sept. 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the VFW Hall on Mill Street.

There will be baked beans, hot dogs, lasagna, mac and cheese, salad, plus pies and other deserts.

The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children 10 years old and younger, a free for children under 5 years old.

There will be entertainment by Gene Fowler's Northern Breeze.

There will also be a silent auction and raffles and donated items would be greatly appreciated.

An update on Bickford's health: His cancer has gone to the other eye. He has a large tumor causing his eye to bulge. Recently he has had swollen legs that make it hard for him to walk, so he has been using a wheelchair. He was diagnosed with cancer at 7 years old and he is now 25.

Bickford is facing five weeks of radiation everyday in Scarborough. The money raised with help with traveling expenses. After this treatment, the doctors say there is nothing more they can do.

He enjoys his two brothers, Ben, 10, and Blade, 1. Bickford likes television and playing video games.

The family asked Bickford if he wanted to go through this treatment knowing what he has been through and he said he did. He has a strong will to live. After this, it will be in the Lord's hands.
