Project Graduation in Maine started in 1979, after Oxford Hills and Portland High Schools each experienced numerous alcohol and other drug-related teen deaths during the commencement season. As a result of these tragic experiences, the schools and communities in these areas offered their students an alternative to the “traditional” graduation night drinking and driving temptations that all too often end in tragedy. Project Graduation is offered to all Medomak Valley High School graduates as a way to keep them safe and entertained on graduation night, in a chemical-free atmosphere. The Class of 2014 is looking forward to graduation and planning for an exciting Project Graduation destination.
