Robert Olson, author of “Exploring the Future: Seven Strategic Conversations That Could Transform Your Association” and editor of “Environmentalism and the Technologies of Tomorrow” and “Mending the Earth,” will speak Thursday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. at the downtown Camden Public Library.

Olson’s presentation, titled Advancing Technology and Images of the Future, is hosted by the Camden Philosophical Society. The general public is welcome to attend.

Olson is a summer resident of Lincolnville Beach who formerly served with the U.S. Office of Technology Assessment and is now a senior fellow at the Institute For Alternative Futures, a think tank in the Washington, D.C., area. Olson was the Institute’s Director of Research for 15 years, working as a consultant to leaders in a wide range of government agencies, corporations and nonprofit organizations.

Much of Olson’s recent work has focused on environmental and energy futures, including projects with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to bring greater foresight into the Agency’s planning. He is a member of the National Advisory Council for Environmental Technology and Policy and the primary author of the NACEPT report The Environmental Future: Emerging Challenges and Opportunities for EPA.
