The National Weather Service in Gray has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Knox, Lincoln and Waldo counties.
The warning is in effect until 2:30 p.m.
The National Weather Service doppler radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. these storms were located along a line extending from Lake St. George State Park to Warren to 12 miles south of Bremen or along a line extending from 15 miles south of Thorndike to 10 miles west of Rockland to 9 miles east of Boothbay Harbor. It is moving northeast at 45 mph.
"This is a dangerous storm. If you are in its path prepare immediately for damaging winds, destructive hail, and deadly cloud-to-ground lightning. People outside should move to a shelter, preferably inside a strong building but away from windows," the warning reads.
