Catinka Knoth will teach drawing scenes of September in Maine, with a focus on buildings, Mondays at 11 a.m. in the Friends Community Room of Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St. Knoth offers the workshops, hosted by Friends of Rockland Library, free and open to the general public, with materials supplied.

Knoth will lead students in drawing several scenes of iconic local Maine buildings. Students may experience simple aspects of perspective theory and also will practice the technique of coloring in without using outlines.

Familiar buildings from St. George and South Thomaston along the St. George peninsula and Rte 131 will be the subjects for the classes, a different building for each week. Scheduled subjects are: Sept. 9, the St. George Grange; Sept. 16, the Finn-Am Church; Sept. 23, a classic Maine house; and Sept. 30, the church at Wiley's Corner.

Knoth paints watercolors of Maine and whimsical animal scenes, which she offers as cards and prints. She also teaches a free weekly children's drawing class at Rockland Public Library, sponsored by Wendy and Keith Wellin. For more information about her work, visit catinkacards.com.
